2. NYFN WOMEN

NYFN Women is the Nigeria Young Farmers Network entity dedicated to promoting, strengthening, supporting, empowering girls and women in Agriculture.
Gender equality and the empowerment of women in agriculture is key to Agricultural development in Nigeria. NYFN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting the needs of women in Agriculture nationwide.

Women small farm-holders have just 14% holding rights on land where they farm, in spite of their strategic roles in food production, government hardly focuses on supporting them. It is estimated that if women had the same access to finance, land, technology, and training advice as men, they would contribute significantly to the achievement of the Food Security and Global SDG’s. – Critical Challenges we seek to address

When different parts of the nationwide system act together, they can deliver greater results—and maximize the use of scarce resources. Within the NYFN system, NYFN Women is mandated to lead, promote and coordinate efforts to advance the full realization of women’s rights and opportunities in Agriculture

– Supporting Family Farmers

• Issues of gender equality and discrimination against women. Women are still voiceless in decision-making and policy

• Greater participation of women to enable them lead the agricultural sector and also mainstream gender issues in policies and programs in

• Effective participation in the agro-allied decision-making and leadership

• Wealth creation and socio-economic development of women.

– The building movement

Each year, proceeds from Farm Aid’s annual concert and our generous community of donors are granted to nonprofit organizations working to strengthen family farm agriculture in the United States.

– Promoting farm foods

The first domesticated animals were dogs, which were used for hunting. Sheep and goats were probably domesticated next. People also domesticated cattle and pigs. Most of these animals had once been hunted for hides and meat.

–  Celebrating family farmers

Now many of them are also sources of milk, cheese, and butter. Eventually, people used domesticated animals such as oxen for plowing, pulling, and transportation.
