Chelsea have put Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson on standby to fly to London on Friday as they aim to wrap up a move for the 21-year-old.
The Blues have agreed personal terms with Jackson over a long-term contract and look set to trigger his £30million release clause.
Talks with Villarreal over the structure of payments are ongoing but Chelsea hope to finalise a deal to make him their second summer signing, after sealing a £53m move to sign Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig this week.
Jackson finished the season in blistering form for Villarreal, scoring nine goals in eight La Liga matches, and is ready to travel to London for a medical.
He was a cheaper alternative to £100m-rated Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
Chelsea want to bolster their frontline for new head coach Mauricio Pochettino after agreeing a £65m deal to sell Kai Havertz to Arsenal.
Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are also expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with Jackson and Nkunku forming part of a new-look attack next season.
