The Npower Health is one of the category of the Npower programme under its National Social Investment Programme (NSIP). The program is designed to leverage on the existing public health system in the country to improve the health outcomes of vulnerable populations, including pregnant women, children under five years of age, and individuals with disabilities.
The N-Power Health program provides young graduates with the opportunity to work as volunteer health assistants in various primary healthcare centers across the country. The program seeks to address the critical shortage of healthcare workers in Nigeria, especially in rural areas, and to improve the quality of healthcare services available to the population.
To qualify for the program, applicants must be Nigerian citizens between the ages of 18 and 35, possess a degree or diploma in a health-related field, and must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program or possess an exemption certificate.
Participants in the N-Power Health program are trained and equipped with the necessary skills and tools to provide basic health services such as health education, community outreach, and health promotion activities. They also support healthcare professionals in the provision of essential healthcare services to the community.
The N-Power Health program provides participants with a monthly stipend and other incentives to support their work as volunteer health assistants. The program runs for a period of one year, after which participants are expected to transition to other employment opportunities or start their own businesses.
