
The goal was to empower 1000 families in all 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State through skills in Agriculture, ICT, Oil and Gas and business education for SMEs.
Ibom 3000 project was birthed to feed human capital development as one of the eight-point completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Applications were received from a designated portal by the State Government through the Ministry of Trade and Investment and beneficiaries were selected on a first-come-first-served basis.
After the flagoff by the State Governor on March 15, 2021, the 1000 beneficiaries would go on orientation for four days before reporting at their respective training centres.
While Oil and Gas trainees were camped at a facility in Nya Odiong, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, renovated by the State Government for their training, Agric beneficiaries were trained on crop production at Benny Farms in Okobo, SMEs were trained in Uyo and ICT were allocated training centers in Uyo, Ikot Ekpene and Eket for proximity to the trainees.
The training for Oil and Gas, ICT, Agric and SMEs had different time frames. Whereas they started together, some programmes lasted for two months, some for three and some as long as six months.
Today, August 9, 2022, these beneficiaries will graduate as pioneer trainees under the Ibom 3000 project.
