Law and human rights have long been within Canon Collins Trust’s priority areas for awarding scholarships. By investing in future members of South Africa’s legal profession they hope to support a new generation of leaders to develop legal systems which are just and equitable.
Higher education is transformative for society and Southern Africa’s development depends on strong leadership in key fields. Yet while the benefits of higher education continue to rise, the costs of being left behind are also growing. The underfunding of postgraduate studies has become a looming crisis and a major impediment to transformation. This is why we have supported over 4,000 individuals whose education addresses some of the most pressing issues in contemporary southern African society.
