Peace Corps of Nigeria, which is committed to National Creativity, Peace and Youth Development has met all legal specifications and is incorporated in Nigeria under Companies and Allied Matters Act, Part C/20, LFN 2004, with IT Number CAC/IT/14589 of May, 2002 and accorded government’s recognition through the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and its activities in Schools and Colleges are registered under the Federal Ministry of Education.

Functions of Peace Corps of Nigeria / Peace Corps of Nigeria Registration Portal

  1. To enlist, mobilise, train, orientate and provide gainful employment for the youths in order to develop them as supporting agents of social order by providing a second line of public safety;
  2. To serve as a think tank and engage in sensitizing residents of every community on security and safety measures peculiar to their neighbourhood;
  3. To uphold a bottom-up surveillance through monitoring and observation and to detect, collate, analyse and transmit intelligence data on matters that may likely cause breach of peace and security within the neighbourhood and transmit same to the appropriate Security Agency for pre-emptive measures/actions;
  4. To engage in Peace Education, Mediation and Conflict Resolution in order to advance the course of Peace-building, Reconciliation and Conflict Transformation in all communities in Nigeria;
  5. To secure Educational Institutions from intruders and to combat all forms of social decadence/vices, including cultism and examination malpractices with a view to creating peaceful and conducive atmosphere for learning;
  6. To serve as a Reservoir and Spring-board of skilled man-power for volunteerism and involvement in social and community services such as Crowd Control, Tour Guard/Guide, Emergency Relief Services, Rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons, Voters’ Registration, Election Duties, Census, Immunization, Sanitation and First Aid;
  7. To set up a centre saddled with the responsibility of training and building the capacity of the youths in the areas of Critical Thinking, Creativity, Innovation, Entrepreneurial and Skill Acquisition and;
  8. To carry out other functions as may be prescribed by an Act of the National Assembly or any Bye-law.

Membership Categories / Peace Corps of Nigeria Registration Portal

Regular Members

Membership of the organization is exclusively preserved for Nigerian citizens, and is open to all youth, both male and female, irrespective of political and social status, ethnicity, State of origin or religious affiliation.

In line with the Corp’s objective to positively pre-occupy youths through its job creation initiative for the teeming number of unemployed youths, serving as a panacea for checking the high rate of youth involvement in crime and social vice, PCN engages the services of unemployed youths with a minimum academic qualification of Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), and within the ages of 18-35 years.

These youths, who after the Mandatory Basic Training, are given the status of Officers or Men and are thus entitled to monthly stipends, paid jointly by the organization and the direct beneficiary of their services.

Student Membership

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Constitution of PCN, membership of the organization isopen to all students of educational institutions, from the secondary to tertiary levels. Membership is on
voluntary basis.Generally, confirmation of Membership in any of the categories is subject to the collection and filling in
the applicant’s own handwriting, a Membership Form, and subsequent submission of the duly completed
form, subject to intensive scrutiny and profiling by the organization. Also, PCN reserved the right to deny
admission to anyone deemed not fit (whether physically, medically, psychologically or by action or
inaction) into its hierarchy.Membership of the organization is exclusively preserved for Nigerian citizens, and is open to all youth,

affiliation. There are three categories of Membership, namely the Regular Members, the Volunteer Cadre
and Student Membership. Regular Members:In line with the Corp’s objective to positively pre-occupy youths through its job creation initiative for the

Volunteer Members

  • PCN also has a provision for employed and retired professionals in various fields, to create positive impact in society by serving as Peace Corps Volunteers, provided such individuals are willing to commit their time, energy, knowledge, experience and other resources towards the advancement of the noble objectives of the Corps. Although their services do not entail remuneration, volunteers are however entitled to all the rights and privileges of the regular members, in addition to being paid honorarium when engaged as resource persons during programmes and events.
  • Peace Corps Volunteers are usually posted to work with the citizens at the grassroots, towards peace-building and conflict prevention/mediation, youth mentoring and in improving access to quality formal education, health education, security and safety consciousness, environmental health, agriculture and food production, community self-help efforts etc.
  • Enlistment into Peace Corps Volunteer Cadre is by obtaining a Registration Form from the National Headquarters or any of the State Commands, including the FCT. Peace Corps Volunteers are therefore, expected to serve as Peace Ambassadors in their various fields of professional callings.

In addition to being part of the change-making process, our Volunteers have the opportunity of integrating into other communities, and learning new cultures and traditions, which promotes National Integration.
